So what are we all about?

I grew up in the sleepy market town of Shepton Mallet, Somerset. Living in such close proximity to the countryside and the farming community meant that I appreciated good food and its link to nature from an early age. Some of my happiest early memories involve food - picking ripe blackberries with my sisters in the local meadows; fishing off the Somerset coast for sprats & mackerel on family day trips; eating freshly baked apple crumble on my best friend's patio after a long day's play.

After the birth of my first child, Logan, two and a half years ago I - like many parents - started to pay close attention to the foods I exposed him to. The desire for our children to eat well is something many of us share.

My aim for The Dish & the Spoon is to create a place that brings together people and food in a friendly and welcoming environment.
Key focuses will be excellent coffee, delicious light meals, carefully sourced regional delicatessen produce and space for babies and children to have fun while they try out new foods and enjoy a few treats too.
